All Dressed Up

At the resort there were two ladies who had a small market style display at the entrance. They had numerous things to sell. We actually bought a few things from them. One of the times that we were out talking to them they asked us if they could dress us in their indigenous clothing. We, of course, said yes. David and Regina were very shocked that the ladies offered to do that. In the two years that they have been in Guatemala they have never seen the locals dress a North American. Regina said, "They never do that." They explained to Regina that the blouse they put on me took six months to make. It really was beautiful. I probably should have bought it and framed it in a shadow box.
This is the complete ensemble.

Larsen had a different head dressing. The people of Guatemala were very drawn to the tiny, blond haired, North American. Men, women, and children could not help but look at her and smile at her. Some touched her and some even held her. David and Regina asked us to leave her there because she would open so many doors for them. They felt they could go anywhere if they had here with them. We just had to say no.
We look so nice don't we? Kaylie thought the outfits were very comfortable and they really were. The skirt material was kind of heavy and they tie the belt pretty tight but it was nice to experience the dress of the local people.

I believe the ladies may have been mother and daughter bit I am not certain. The older lady told us that she had been to the states. I think she had visited Wisconsin.
Very sweet and beautiful people.
